Step into grandeur with the Rubber Tree, a larger cousin of the Rubber Plant that boasts an impressive presence. With its sturdy trunk and wide, glossy leaves, this plant is perfect for filling empty corners or creating a dramatic focal point. Easy to care for and highly adaptable, the Rubber Tree thrives in bright, indirect light and requires minimal attention. Whether you’re styling a boho-chic space or a contemporary loft, this plant adds sophistication and scale to your interior.
Growth Rate & Mature Size
Growth Rate: The Rubber Tree (Ficus elastica) grows at a moderate rate, typically adding 12–24 inches per year when provided with the right indoor conditions.
Mature Size: Indoors, it can reach a height of 6–10 feet with a spread of 3–5 feet, making it an ideal choice for filling larger spaces or adding height to a room.
Watering & Sunlight
Watering: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. The Rubber Tree prefers to dry out slightly between waterings. Ensure the soil drains well, and avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
Sunlight: Thrives in bright, indirect light but can also adapt to low light conditions. However, it may not grow as quickly in lower light. Too much direct sunlight can scorch its leaves, so filtered light is best.
